This Little Light Of Mine
“This Little Light of Mine” is essentially the theme for this Sunday. The election is over and the winner is…. In one of the most contentious, unhealthy, negative and mudslinging presidential campaigns in history, we move into a new era. Or is it?
This Sunday we’re going to turn things positive, have some fun, and at the same time look at ourselves as followers of Jesus in a time of negativity; to be that positive light, that upbeat response, that being a, “Light in the darkness” kind of place. All of it will be based in the scripture about being the light of the world and that simple little song, “This Little Light of Mine.”
Remember the words. This little light of mine. I’m going to let it shine. Hide it under a bushel, No! I’m going to let it shine. Won’t let anything whoosh it out, I’m going to let it shine. What does it all mean? We gather in the morning for worship. We gather in the evening a favorite event for so many of us at Aldersgate, Harvest Dinner. There is simply no doubt but that we need to be fed in order to become a light. We need to be loved in order to know how to love. And we need to be energized in order to shine. Sunday will do all of that and more. To prepare please read Matthew 5: 13 – 16 and John 8: 12.
