New Year’s Eve
On New Year’s Eve, we will gather for an informal service of worship with everyone together at 10:00am. We will come to celebrate the passing of one year into the next and to recommit ourselves to go with God into the new year. This prayer taught to us by the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. helps me to get my priorities straight and set a resolution or an intention for the New Year. Take a moment with it during this week as we all find our ways to take stock of what the holidays have brought, how we have become a new creation with God, and what aspirations we have for 2018.
I want to be on your right side or your left side,
not for any selfish reason.
I want to be on your right or your best side,
not in terms of some political kingdom or ambition,
but I just want to be there
in love and in justice and in truth
and in commitment to others,
so we can make of this old world a new world. Amen.
