Aldersgate offers a diverse set of opportunities around Adult Education and Discipleship.
On Sunday mornings at 10:00am – between services – are two opportunities for adults to engage. The first is a sermon discussion class. The second is a book study. All are welcome at either class any time.
On Monday evenings there is a women’s book study that meets at 7:00pm.
On Wednesday mornings and Wednesday evenings Pastor Brad teaches a study. The two studies are identical in focus. The morning study begins at 10:00am and runs until 11:30am. The evening class runs from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. Like all other classes, all are welcome to attend either of both. The morning and evening classes are different from each other, groups and the discussions in each are dynamic, fun, deep and each often finds themselves focusing on different elements of the study. Throughout the remainder of this program year the Pastor’s class is continuing a study of Jesus through history. This final section is Jesus in America (1630 to the Present Day – Shifts and Changes and What They Mean For Us).
There are classes offered at various times throughout the year on health and wholeness, classes about spiritual direction and disciplines, and classes that help us understand mental health. These are often taught by Rev. Laura Wall, our Associate Pastor for Pastoral Care and Counseling.
There are parent support classes and parent education classes some of which are affiliated with our preschool.
In the next year there will be a class on strengthening your marriage.
And then in March of 2017 there will be a trip to the Holy Land led by Pastor Brad.
There is a Young at Heart Group that is for older adults. They meet every other month and explore a variety of topics.
As a part of our ongoing support of the greater community, there are also multiple AA Recovery Groups that meet at Aldersgate.
Information about specific groups and times can be found by contacting the church office.
