One of the oldest on going outreach programs that Aldersgate participates in is the Crossroads Dinner Program. In the mid-1980s Kay Blakney heard through friends from St. Madeline Sophie Catholic Church that a dinner program was going to be started at the Crossroads Community Center. She signed Aldersgate up for the fourth Tuesday of each month. Almost 30 years later we are still providing dinners on the fourth Tuesday of each month in the Crossroads area.
The meals are served in the Salvation Army Community Center located at 911 – 164th Ave NE, Bellevue, WA 98008. The meal serves the diverse community that surrounds Crossroads. Each month food is donated by the members of the Aldersgate Congregation including fried chicken bought at a local grocery store. Different volunteers serve the food each month. This includes individuals and groups. Kim Brewer’s and Rachel Saw’s Girl Scout Troops helped serve the meals a couple times a year.
For more information contact: Melinda Lilley, volunteer coordinator; Jo Fritze, food coordinator; and Dave Maybe meal coordinator the evening of the dinner.
